Julie A. Morton, PhD

Julie Morton, PhD is an Associate Consultant with MICA Learning at Knightsbridge in Toronto.

As a frequent and sought after speaker, Julie has worked in both private and public sectors. She is an executive and family/family-business coach, mediator, trainer and change management specialist. Communication is the tool through which she works. Her clients are large organizations, business executives, and high net worth family enterprises/philanthropies: areas of foci are issues relating to top teams or high performance achievers, organizational succession, next generation, transition, Legacy and philanthropy.

As a communication specialist, Dr. Morton offers clients both a simple set of skills and a practical approach to improving communication. Her coaching focus is on improving relationships in partnerships, businesses and family enterprise. The end goal is to help clients, organizations and family businesses take control of: who they want to be (as individuals and as organizations); where they are going, and; the constructive change process to achieve their positive results.

Julie Morton has a PhD. from Michigan State University in Communication with a sub-specialty in Creative Problem Resolution. She has very specialized training in small group dynamics, organizational change, and interpersonal and organizational communication. Dr. Morton has Advanced Facilitator training from both the Creative Problem Solving Group, Buffalo and from Synectic, Inc. She has advanced training in Conflict Management and Mediation, from the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, Conrad Grebel University College, Waterloo, Ontario. Julie is an Adler trained coach, certified from the Adler School of Professional Coaching, University of Toronto/OISE, and the International Coaching Federation. Julie has certification in the Living Systems Team Approach to Coaching and Shadow Coaching. She is a founding member of the Family Firm Institute, Toronto Branch. In addition, in conjunction with 21/64 at the Andrea and Charles Bronfman foundation, she helped create “Family Quest – Giving Game”.

Julie holds appointments with both the Schulich School of Business (York University) in Toronto (as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (as a Board Member on the Ethics Committee). She is a Principal partner of Conscious Legacy Coaching and an Associate Consultant with Shepell-fgi.
